How to get here
Driving
If you are travelling from the south (eg Athens) the easiest option is to take the Athens to Lamia motorway (the main motorway to the north), get off at the 150th km at a village called Arkitsa and take the ferry across to Edipsos. The ferry crossing takes around 45 minutes and brings you straight into Edipsos.
An alternative route from the south is to get off the same motorway (Athens to Lamia) at Chalkida, cross the bridge connecting the mainland to Evia Island and follow the signs towards North Evia and Edipsos. The road is smaller and parts of it are windy but it is absolutely beautiful, climbing on the side of green mountains and running along mountain rivers.
If you are travelling from northern Greece (eg Thessaloniki, Larissa), the best option is to get off the main motorway connecting Thessaloniki to Athens at Glyfa (on the 90th km of what is called the Larissa-Athens motorway at that point) and take the ferry from there to Agiokampos on Evia Island. The ferry ride is around 30 minutes and the distance between Agiokampos and Edipsos is 10km on a wide and easy road.
For ferry schedules from Arkitsa see www.ferriesedipsos.gr, www.edipsosferries.gr and www.edipsoslines.com (these are three different companies with different timetables). For ferry schedules from Glyfa see www.glyfaferries.gr. You can also contact Edipsos Port Authority (0030 22260 22464) or Glyfa Port Authority (0030 22380 61288) for a full schedule of ferries.
Bus
You can take a bus directly to Edipsos from the Athens from the Liosion Bus Depot (there is more than one depot in Athens). Depending on the season, buses for Edipsos leave between 3 and 5 times a day. There are direct buses to Edipsos from various other Greek cities in the summer. Ask the local bus depot for more information.
